WA NTEU to host forum on the Future for Libraries
Is there a future for Libraries and Library Staff?
NTEU WA Division hosts discussion forum
Friday June 8, 1pm - 4.30pm, Curtin University Bentley - University Club Room 104.101
Innovative Tasmanian librarian Garry Conroy-Cooper will be the keynote speaker at an upcoming forum organised by the WA Division of the NTEU, themed: ‘Is there a future for libraries and library staff?’ The forum will take place on Friday June 8 from 1pm-4.30pm at Curtin University, Bentley in the University Club Room (104.101). All staff at WA academic and non-academic libraries are invited to attend, and the forum is open to anyone with an interest in the future of libraries.
There will be two main sessions at the forum, which will include panels of speakers followed by interactive Q&A discussions. Refreshments will also be provided. The sessions will focus on:
1) The future for libraries in Australia;
2) The future for staff in academic libraries.
Garry Conroy-Cooper, the Launceston Manager of Tasmania’s state-wide library network LINC, has a wealth of knowledge in libraries, learning, information and literacy, and has extensive experience in the public and private sectors. Garry believes literacy underpins lifelong learning and argues that the library and information profession must become embedded in the ‘decade of literacy’ that is emerging in Australia.

[ +1 ] Libraries are great places source information and also a nice quiet place to sit relax and read a book there is something about reading books that computers just doesn’t have I think that tend to agree with Nikita’s comments. Live on libraries
Like • Dislike •[ +1 ] Libraries are still useful because not every thing can be found in google. For instance History true history not some theatrical adapation of tue events. Also novals and biographys. If you want B.S. ok use the internet.
