LTU sanitises the Personal Qualities and Behavioural Characteristics in the PDF

Posted 7 December 2011 by Rhonda Small (La Trobe University)

NTEU notes, but does not endorse, changes to the performance development framework which still forces all staff to have a conversation about their behaviour even if there is no reason to do so.

The Branch has written to the University outlining our objections and we have provided recommendations for how a more collegial workplace can be created.  We discuss the need for supervisor training and mechanisms outside of the performance development scheme for dealing with difficult behaviours.

We argue that professionalism is fostered by a workplace culture that is supportive of staff, which is largely a collective responsibility of all staff in work units, and not of individuals.  Respectful, open and collegial workplaces breed respectful, open and collegial behaviours.
