Kangan ballot for 24 hour strike

Posted 4 March 2011 by Atosha McCaw (Vic Division)

TAFE wages comparison

Yesterday, PACCT staff members at Kangan unanimously resolved to go to a ballot for a 24 hours strike to advance our bargaining claim.  Despite a further request from the NTEU, management has not revised their position of a 2.5% pay increase per annum, plus translation to a new classification structure and removed grace in favour days.

Again as you can see from the graph above - PACCT staff are falling way behind their colleagues in the dual sector Institutions.

Strong membership is crucial to send a clear message to management that we are angry that our salaries are so far behind, our colleagues carrying out the same duties in TAFE and that the salary offer is below the cost of living.

By being a member, you strengthen our cause and it is only members that can participate in protected industrial action.  We ask that all remaining PACCT staff who are not members join their colleagues in the NTEU by Wednesday March 9th.

As you will be aware, we do bargain for all PACCT staff, strong membership delivers results.
