MyUniversity: Notes on neoliberalism and knowledge

Posted 29 May 2012 by Kate Barnsley (University of Sydney)

At a recent meeting of the Academic Board, Professor Raewyn Connell, from the Faculty of Education here at the University of Sydney, presented a paper about the intrusion of neo-liberalism into the academy. Beginning with the MyUniversity website, which, she argues, like its sister site MySchool, "display[s] the market-centered policy logic that has been changing education – and every other field of Australian life – since the mid 1980s." In her discussion paper, Professor Connell draws out some of the implications of this neo-liberal policy logic as they might apply to Higher Education and the work of Research and Teaching.

Her paper is available to download below.
