General meeting to discuss strike action on Open Day at VU

Posted 27 July 2010 by Atosha McCaw (Vic Division)

There is a General Meeting being held at VU to discuss Strike action on Open Day and an Escalation of Action.

Location: D531 Footscray Park

Date: Wednesday 28 July

Time: 1.00 - 2.00 pm

The NTEU Branch is calling a meeting of members to discuss the union’s response to:

  • Management’s reneging on commitments made last year to pay salary rises in 2010, which leaves VU staff among the worst paid in the sector
  • Management’s refusal to seriously discuss ways to resolve the dispute and to bargain in good faith for a new Agreement
  • Management’s continuing and escalating aggressive response to the union industrial action

The NTEU Branch Executive is proposing a strike and picket lines for Open Day and an escalation of industrial action during second semester. All NTEU members should attend.

The members’ meeting will discuss options and vote on the way forward.

[ -3 ] @NC : Money minded people... Sigh... Guess they couldn't give a damn about us students being the ones who suffer greatly from their doings for money..

[ +1 ] Why are you penalising the students because you are not happy?

I pay my fees, hand in assignments on time and sit exams - what are you doing for me?
