JCU Branch Committee elections nominations now open
Dear NTEU member, this email is to advise you that elections for all positions on the NTEU Branch Committee at JCU will be held this year.
The NTEU conducts elections for nearly all positions every two years, and the positions are open to all financial members of the union. The Branch Committee is a body which works with the Branch Organiser to set priorities and pursue issues which are of importance to union members at JCU. We usually meet monthly and members on different campuses are video linked to those meetings. Some positions on the committee are identified as representing a specific constituency, and there is provision for both academic and professional and technical members to hold executive roles.
Attached is a Nomination Form circulated by the Australian Electoral Commission. This form will also be posted on the JCU Branch website.
All NTEU members are urged to consider taking this opportunity to work with, and represent their fellow members. As you are no doubt aware, the tasks often fall to a dedicated few, and it is in your interests that renewal occurs regularly to prevent the sort of burnout that so many staff experience in the course of their working year. A collegiate approach ensures that the focus of the branch remains fresh, and relevant to the issues which confront JCU staff today.
