NTEU Supports Qld Public Servants

Posted 31 July 2012 by Lachlan Hurse (University of Queensland)

The UQ Branch and the Queensland Division have passed motions of support for workers in the Queensland Public Service. We encourage our members to participate in actions to defend public servant jobs, in recognition of the critical contribution by the Queensland public sector in the provision of vital services to the people of Queensland, including education, health, child welfare, environmental protection and emergency services.

The NTEU also calls for reinstatement of funding, cut by the Newman Government, to significant non-government service organisations, including the Queensland Working Women's Service, the Environmental Defenders Office, Family Planning Association, Queensland Indigenous Alcohol Diversion Program, Queensland Association for Healthy Communities, and Sisters Inside.
