Good News For DSA Staff
Congratulations to Staff in the Division of Student Administration (DSA) who have been working with the NTEU to address staffing issues following a recent managing change process. DSA staff were concerned that compression of time between university events such as the end of session and graduation, and the loss of staff in the department was having a detrimental effect on their work and heath. They were worried that if the problem was left unaddressed it would compromise the level of support they could offer students, and noted that it was already compromising their home life and affecting their health.
With the assistance of the NTEU, the DSA staff collectively asked management to address the issue. 44 DSA staff signed the open letter to management with another 70 staff signing in support of their DSA colleagues. Click here for background details of the campaign.
In response to the concerns raised, CSU management have now agreed to fill all vacant positions and create 3 new positions in the Division. As a result, 10 vacancies will be advertised in the coming weeks. This is a good step forward, and the NTEU is now seeking feedback from DSA staff to ensure that workload problems are addressed.
