March with the NTEU in the May Day parade, May 6
March on May Day with your NTEU colleagues
Sun May 6, Fremantle Esplanade Reserve, 11.30am
The annual May Day festival and march is a celebration of the achievements and continuing struggles of the union movement. Unionists from all sectors will converge on Fremantle Esplanade Reserve and march the streets in honour of those who have fought and continue to fight for the rights of workers. The NTEU will have a stall on the day and we invite our members from all universities along with family and friends to join us at the stall and march. There will be free entertainment, rides, food and plenty of activities. Help make NTEU’s May Day a success and show your support by wearing purple on the day.
Members’ Draw: Win a free iPad!
To add to the May Day festivities, this year union partners Shoprite and the NTEU have joined forces to offer a free iPad to one lucky member. Simply register on arrival at the stall, march in the festival and come back to the stall for the draw. If your ticket is drawn you will be leaving May Day with a new iPad! Many thanks to Shoprite, who continue to provide a fantastic free service to union members, arranging considerable discounts on a very wide range of products and services across WA.
Meet at 11.30am at the NTEU stall
The NTEU will assemble at the NTEU stall for the march at 11.30am. Make sure you register at the stall beforehand from 11.00-11.30am, and collect your ticket for the draw. We will all meet up at the stall again at 1.30pm, when the winner will be drawn.
The NTEU will be distributing material supporting the union's ‘Invest in Our Universities’ campaign on May Day. So come along and join your union colleagues on this international day to celebrate solidarity and advance the rights of working people in Australia and around the world!
Help build the NTEU May Day contingent
1) Tell your friends and colleagues about the march - forward these details and/or stick up one of the attached posters in your workplace.
2) Notify your NTEU branch that you can help with distributing flyers, phoning members or volunteering to help out on the day.
