HOUSE OF REPS PASSES GENDER EQUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE LEGISLATION

NTEU welcomes the news that new legislation supporting gender equality in the workplace passed through the House of Representatives last night.  The new legislation is an important step in improving the current inequties in the workplace and NTEU is pleased to see its the passage through the lower house.  The  Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Amendment Bill 2012 will now be considered by the Senate, and NTEU urges all Senators to pass the Bill as it currently stands, noting that it will provide significant improvements to the current legislation and will better encourage the  removal of barriers to women's full and equal participation in the workplace.
