NTEU member Jeffrey Bender runs for University Council

Posted 31 May 2012 by John Pezy (Flinders University)

Long standing union member and former NTEU Monash Branch President, is running for the Professional staff position on University Council. Professional members should have received their ballot papers in the mail. If you have not done so already, the NTEU strongly advises supporting Jeffrey’s candidature. Jeffrey has kept the NTEU informed of issues of interest or concern during his time on University Council, and the Branch fully supports him continuing in the position. In seeking the Branch’s support, Jeffrey wrote:

I have served on the Council for 5 years.

I believe that I have made forthright and constructive contributions to the decisions of Council, ensuring that the views of and the impact on staff of these decisions are brought to the attention of Council. My strong commitment to the NTEU and trade unionism provides me with an understanding of what matters to staff. It should go without saying, but often needs to be said, that the staff of Monash University - casual, fixed-term and continuing - trades and service, professional and academic - are the foundations of the achievements of the University.

The ballot for this position closes at 5pm on Monday 4th June. Please ensure you have posted your ballot by Friday June 1 to ensure it arrived by Monday.

If you have not yet received your papers, you should contact the Returning Officer, Tony Calder, on 9905 9008.
