From the NSW Nurses and Midwives' Assocation:
Dear Genevieve,
The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives' Association sends its support to your members at Sydney University in their struggle for a just and fair bargaining outcome.
As Nurses and Midwives, our members understand that without the highest quality education we cannot deliver the world class health services that Australians deserve.
Support has been coming in from around the country for Sydney University staff in their campaign to stop significant rollbacks to conditions and to advance claims designed to address important issues facing many of us in the sector, including reducing casualisation and improving job security.
From the New South Wales Teachers Federation:
Greetings of solidarity from the NSW Teachers Federation.
We stand with you in your struggle for salary justice. We support your campaign for fair and decent salaries and condition.
We condemn the University management’s continued delay in the bargaining process, and call on management to negotiate in good faith to secure a fair enterprise agreement.
We congratulate the members for your strong and united action.
Jenny Diamond
General Secretary
NSW Teachers Federation
Members attending the NTEU Members Meeting on Wednesday, July 18, unanimously passed a motion of support for the Toll Workers on strike in Victoria.
The motion of support reads:
Workers employed by Toll at the Coles Somerton distribution centre do the same work, organising and distributing the same goods to the same Coles supermarkets, as those employed in other Coles distribution centres in Melbourne, but are employed on lower wages and worse conditions. Through taking strike action, these workers are pursuing a new collective agreement that would provide parity in pay and conditions with their colleagues at other distribution centres.
This meeting of the members of the Sydney University Branch of the National Tertiary Education Union expresses its support for the workers at the Toll-operated Coles distribution centre in Somerton who commenced indefinite protected strike action on Tuesday 10th July.
In addition to supporting the action, Members are also encouraged to donate to the National Union of Workers Somerton Relief Fund:
